I'm Cody Jaron Navarro, I'm 23 years old and currently a Digital Cinema student at Utah Valley University, with an emphasis in directing.
Growing up as a military kid means your never in one place. Because of such, I've had to become resilient, learning to adapt and connect wherever I reside. I've lived in California, New York, Texas and currently reside in Utah.
Film for me wasn't always something I yearned to do. I was always the quiet kid, silently living in his own imagination. Through my dreams and fantasies I discovered my love for storytelling and wrote many short stories and comics. It wasn't until my senior year of high school that I discovered filmaking and made my first short film The Thing In The Tunnel.
I furthered my passion by first studying at Mountainland Technical College, resulting in my freelance photography and videography business, Cody Studios. There I mostly specialized in nature photography and child sport games documentation, however in-between I began testing my limits in the creative field of filmmaking, leading me to write a various scripts, which I submitted to film festivals. This led me to enroll at UVU, where I fully indulged myself in it's film program.
I’ve directed a total of 6 films, produced 11 and written 4 shorts. Within these short films, I’ve gotten 2nd place in the “Best Documentary” category at Athens International Film Festival, “Best Short Documentary” at Cult Movies, and “Best Student Concept” at Scarab Short Film Festival. My films have also been selected in numerous other film festivals, Lego’s The 25-Second Film Festival and Los Angeles Short Film Awards to name a few.
